{"id":324343,"date":"2019-01-09T08:29:50","date_gmt":"2019-01-09T07:29:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.archiviodiocesanoreggiobova.it\/?p=324343"},"modified":"2022-06-07T07:56:05","modified_gmt":"2022-06-07T05:56:05","slug":"mostra-i-cappuccini-di-calabria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.archiviodiocesanoreggiobova.it\/en\/exhibition-the-capuchins-of-calabria\/","title":{"rendered":"Exhibition: &#8220;The Capuchins of Calabria&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.archiviodiocesanoreggiobova.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/cappuccini-di-calabria-genesi-di-un-ordine-pp.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"797\" height=\"476\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, January 10, in the Basilica of St. Mary Mother of Consolation in Reggio Calabria, the Order of Capuchin Friars Minor of Calabria, the Association of Bearers of the Vara, the Diocesan Historical Archives of Reggio Calabria-Bova, the Regional Council of Calabria and the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria sponsored the opening of the exhibition entitled &#8220;The Capuchins of Calabria&#8221;.<br \/>\nThe exhibits included works of art and relics, but also reproductions of archival documents retracing the history of the Capuchins in Calabria from the foundation of the Order in 1518 to the most recent years.<br \/>\nFra&#8217; Giuseppe Sinopoli (Capuchin, historian, member of the Deputation of Homeland History) and Luciano Maria Schepis (historian and researcher) took care of the historical reconstruction of the events that have characterized the life of the Order over the centuries. Francesca Paolino (former associate professor of history of architecture at the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria) dedicated herself to the section of works of art related to the Order. Among the curators of the exhibition were Gaetano Surace (president of the Association Portatori della Vara) and Laura Maria Venniro (who reorganized the &#8220;Order of Capuchin Minors&#8221; fund kept in the diocesan historical archive of Reggio Calabria-Bova).<br \/>\nThe exhibition, which lasted throughout the month of January, allowed us to perceive the deep bond that this Order has always had with the city of Reggio Calabria, sharing its historical destiny and deep devotion to Mary, Mother of Consolation.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\"
