European training workshops for archivists
The Diocesan Historical Archive has joined the ENArC-European Network on Archival Cooperation project activated with the support of the European Union’s Culture Programme 2007-2013. This is an initiative aimed at promoting the preservation, enhancement and enjoyment of the oldest part of the documentary heritage preserved in the Archive, the 303 parchments and 64 briefs of the dioceses of Reggio Calabria (1537-1963) and Bova (1495-1961) now available on the portal Monasterium. net.

December 5,2013, as part of the ENArC programme of activities, the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa organised, in collaboration with the Cathariniana Library and the University of Naples Federico II, a European training workshop addressed to archivists, palaeographers, researchers and scholars of historical disciplines and digital humanities to deepen the knowledge of digital platforms developed within the

Maria Pia Mazzitelli, invited to report, spoke about the digitisation activity carried out and made usable through the Monasterium portal, highlighting its advantages and critical points. He emphasized the compatibility of the ENArC project with the CEIar project and specified the results achieved so far, in terms of study and usability, with the online use of the oldest preserved historical sources. Finally, he hoped that other Calabrian institutions would join the ENArC project to encourage the exchange of experiences of conservation and enhancement of documents, thus providing a solid basis for all scholars interested in deepening and reconstructing the history and identity of a people and its institutions.
