The church of San Giorgio al Corso, Temple of Victory, in collaboration with the Diocesan Historical Archive Reggio Calabria-Bova, will participate in the 6th edition of the national review “The long night of the Churches”, sponsored by the Pontifical Council for Culture.

The event, in streaming, planned for this edition will be a video, made by Pasquale Zumbo, of the concert performed by the organist Carmen Pegna and soprano Eva Polimeni on the music of Pasquale Benintende, accompanied by an exhibition that will illustrate biographical news, scores and images related to the Calabrian composer, curated by Maria Cristina Brandolino, Rocco Grillo and Maria Pia Mazzitelli.

The deep connection with this year’s theme, “Fragile”, is well represented by a very relevant phrase pronounced in 2008 by Pope Benedict XVI: “The musical art is called in a unique way to instill hope in the human soul so marked and sometimes wounded by the earthly condition …”.

The video is divided into two parts: the first presents the figure of the maestro through his biography and images of archive documents, then illustrates the research and selection work carried out on the archive fund for the creation of the exhibition panels; in the second part the musicians will perform some pieces by the composer from Reggio Emilia.
